May 2010
Per Trent's suggestion, I purchased a pair of La Sportiva Wildcat trail running shoes. Still not 100% sold on the concept of trail running shoes over hiking boots and I am curious as to how I react when my feet inevitably get wet when it rains on the trail but I guess wet feet is the lesser of two evils when it comes to monstrous blisters. Oh Raichle boots, where did you go?

April 2011
I am waiting with great anticipation for Summer to be here. With all of the house stuff I am really needing to get back out in the Sierras and do more backpacking. I move into my new house this week and I have never had to sign my name more times in my life in order to finally be the homeowner. On the hunt for a good new pair of breathable hiking shoes as blisters from last years trips from my hiking boots are still fresh on my mind!

March 2011
Well, a lot has happened since my last update. The last few weeks have been spent working on buying a new home. That's right, I am finally joining the land of home buyers. It's excited yet tedious at the same time. I never imagined there would be so much paperwork! In addition to the home buying venture I have established all dates for my summer backpacking trips and am now buying all of the equipment and supplies needed. More feedback to follow!

February 2011
I am busy setting the exact dates for my trips this Summer! Right now I have the following penciled in : Cloud Canyon loop via the Kaweah Gap and Kern River Canyon in Sequoia National Park (92 miles), the Mather Pass/Granite Pass loop in Kings Canyon National Park (80 miles), the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne in Yosemite National Park (30 miles), and last but not least a 3 day trip through the heart of the Cascades (30 miles) with my mother! I am especially excited about the Cloud Canyon loop trip as my backpacking partner Trent said I couldn't do it on one food supply! The gauntlet has been thrown down! Time to prove him wrong!

January 2011
Happy New Year! It's that time of the year again when I start to plan the Summer backpacking trips. Some of the ideas floating around include Cloud Canyon & Colby Pass in Sequoia National Park (in hopes of actually seeing the view from Forester Pass), the Wonderland Trail in Washington (circles Mount Rainier), and perhaps another attempt at the John Muir Trail (to redeem myself after my debacle in 2009!).

December 2010
2011 Calendars are designed and ready for purchase! I have a Color calendar titled "Ethereal" and a Black & White calendar titled "Aquatic" (water themed). Click here to view the calendars!

October 2010
Been working hard on getting ready for the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin & Arts Festival coming up from October 16-17 (see information above). Already starting to plan next years backpacking trips. There are numerous options on the table (The Wonderland Trail in Washington, part of the Pacific Crest Trail in Southern California (or Washington for that matter), and the Cloud Canyon loop in Sequoia National Park.

September 2010
We did it! On September 3rd at 5:30PM, Trent and I crossed the end of the Tahoe to Yosemite trail in Yosemite National Park. It took 12 days to cover 185 miles (not to mention a very pesty bear, getting lost in a canyon, crossing a pass at 10,000 ft during a winter hail/snow storm, and getting harrassed by multiple deer). We backpacked 21 miles the last day from Tuolumne Meadows to the bottom of Half Dome. Check Trent's Trail Journal of the trip by clicking here.
